The Texas Water Safari Board, Guadalupe River Authority, Victoria Parks and Recreation, Victoria Keep America Beautiful, and the Pump House Restaurant in Victoria are planning a number of activities to compliment the Texas River Marathon (Prelim) planned for May 4. The planned activities include games for kids, a live band, a river cleanup, food, and refreshments for the competitors and visitors.
In order to accommodate the larger festival, the finish line for the race will end at the Pump House Restaurant located approximately 4 miles downstream from the Victoria boat ramp at 1201 W. Slayton Avenue, Victoria, TX, 77901 (361-572-9800). There is a good takeout at the floating dock on river left adjacent to the restaurant which is the end of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Paddling Trail.
The start of the prelim will be moved approximately 9½ miles downstream from the 236 Hwy crossing to the River Haven RV Resort located on Anderson Road. Anderson Road is located on the right side of Hwy 87 approximately 8.3 miles from the intersection with Hwy 183 in Cuero. The new course will be approximately 35 miles in length.
