2015 News and Updates

Lots of updates tonight, folks! Here's what has been added:

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

With possibility of high or higher than normal water this year the Texas Water Safari is looking for volunteers in three key positions:

  1. Two volunteers to STAY ALL SATURDAY NIGHT (June 13) at Ottine Dam. This may or may not be a mandatory portage as in previous years. Please note that you might not be able to drive to this site because of the recent rains: it's been too muddy to get a vehicle in or tractor for the last month. The race officials that volunteer to stay at Ottine may have to paddle in to set up.
  2. Two volunteers to STAY ALL SATURDAY NIGHT (June 13) at Gonzales Dam. Again, this may or may not be a mandatory portage as in previous years. Regardless, it can be a hazardous spot.
  3. At least one team to help with searches SATURDAY (June 13) MORNING THRU MONDAY MORNING (June 15). This team must have a paddled in at least one previous Texas Water Safari and must be comfortable paddling at night. (If you can also bring your own Alumacraft boat outfitted with lights to use that would be a great help!) This team will work with both the Race Chairman and Search Director for this year's Texas Water Safari

For these three volunteer positions, e-mail allen.spelce@gmail.com or call 512 657-9943.

Thank you again to all the volunteers who make the Texas Water Safari possible.
